Skjøld is a relatively easy hike that offers a spectacular view. You will walk through grass, heather, moss, and lichen-covered terrain, as well as some rocky and boulder areas. If you're lucky, you might encounter the rare mountain birds, the Dotterel and the Horned Lark. After 1½-2 hours of walking at a moderate pace, you will reach Skjøld, with a fantastic view down to Øye and the entire range of peaks in Jotunheimen rising like teeth from the landscape.
How to get there
Turn off from the E-16 at the western end of Vang centre by the petrol station at the sign "Skakadalen 10," and drive past Stelegardadn, pay the toll, and continue driving through the idyllic Skakadalen, past old, abandoned mountain farms, until you reach Storstølen deep in the valley.
